⚠️ Important 2026 Election Alert

From January 15 to February 15, 2026, the Bangladesh government has temporarily suspended the Visa on Arrival facility for several nationalities (including Poland and others) to manage security for the parliamentary elections.

  • Advice: Always check with the nearest Bangladesh Mission before flying during this period.
  • Alternative: If VoA is suspended for you, you must apply for a sticker visa at a Bangladesh Embassy in advance.

1. Who is Eligible?

Citizens from the following regions traveling for tourism, business, or official duty are generally eligible for a 30-day single-entry VoA:

  • North America: USA, Canada.
  • Europe: UK, and all EU countries (e.g., Germany, France, Italy).
  • Oceania: Australia, New Zealand.
  • Asia: China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Turkey, Brunei.
  • Others: Russian Federation, Egypt.

Note: If you are of Bangladeshi origin (or their spouse/child), you are also eligible regardless of your current nationality, provided you have proof (old passport or NVR seal).

2. Mandatory Requirements

To get your stamp at the airport, you must have these ready:

  • Passport: Minimum 6 months validity and at least 2 blank pages.
  • Proof of Funds: You must show you have at least $500 USD (in cash or via a recent credit card statement).
  • Return Ticket: A confirmed flight out of Bangladesh within 30 days.
  • Accommodation: A printout of your hotel booking or an invitation letter from a host.
  • VoA Fee: Exactly $51 USD (some counters say $50, but bring $51 or $60 to be safe). Cash only. Cards are rarely accepted at the Sonali Bank counter inside the arrival hall.

3. Step-by-Step at Dhaka Airport (HSIA)

  1. Pre-Arrival: Fill out the online VoA form and print the acknowledgment receipt. While “manual” forms are available at the airport, the digital printout speeds up the process significantly.
  2. The Bank Counter: Before the immigration desks, look for the Sonali Bank booth. Pay your $51 fee here and get a paper receipt.
  3. The VoA Desk: Go to the designated Visa on Arrival desk (usually on the right side of the hall). Hand over your passport, bank receipt, and hotel booking.
  4. The Interview: The officer will ask about your stay. Be clear: “I am here for tourism, staying at [Hotel Name] for [X] days.”
  5. Immigration: Once you have the visa sticker/stamp, proceed to the standard immigration line to get your entry seal.
